Attorneys Mark S. Ruderman, Esq., and Denise E. Esmerado, Esq., recently spoke at the Employment Law Update in New Jersey: Top 11 Employer Mistakes seminar, held in Somerset, NJ and sponsored by Lorman Educational Services.

The seminar addressed an array of topics in the field of labor and employment law for an audience comprised of management and human resources personnel, as well as fellow attorneys.

In his presentation, Mark Ruderman’s focused on a range of issues in the field of labor and employment law, including the use of social media policies in the workplace, employee handbooks, email and internet usage policies, improperly exempting non-exempt employees from wage and hour requirements and the ramifications of failing to define the employment relationship at the commencement of employment.

Denise Esmerado’s presentation focused on the issues surrounding confidentiality agreements and restrictive covenants, questions and discussions during the interview process, and improper application of the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), the New Jersey Family Leave Act (“NJFLA”) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”).
